Are you passionate about helping young people with SEND understand their world, explore their community and develop the confidence and independence they need for adulthood?
This is a varied role combining Humanities, outdoor learning, conservation, community engagement and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. It offers an exciting opportunity to bring learning to life through the classroom and through meaningful experiences beyond it.
About the roleWorking with pupils with SEND, you will help deliver an ambitious Humanities curriculum while helping us develop a rich programme of outdoor and community-based learning.
Depending on your skills and experience, this could include:- delivering or supporting engaging Humanities learning;
- developing fieldwork, mapping, navigation and place-based learning;
- leading outdoor learning and Forest School activities;
- creating conservation and environmental projects;
- developing partnerships with parks, nature reserves and community organisations;
- leading or supporting our Duke of Edinburgh's Award provision;
- contributing to educational visits, residentials and outdoor adventurous activities;
- creating meaningful opportunities for pupils to develop independence, resilience, teamwork and communication; and
- embedding Preparation for Adulthood throughout pupils' learning experiences.
Above all, you will help our pupils become confident, aspirational and increasingly independent members of their community.
You will need:- Qualified Teacher Status
- experience of working with children or young people with SEND;
- experience of leading or supporting high-quality learning, enrichment or outdoor activities;
- a strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice;
- the ability to adapt experiences to meet individual pupils' communication, sensory, physical, emotional and learning needs;
- excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills; and
- a genuine commitment to ambitious outcomes and preparing young people for adulthood.
Qualifications or experience in Forest School, Duke of Edinburgh's Award, outdoor education, activity leadership, first aid, Humanities, conservation, educational visits or residential experiences would be particularly welcome.
