As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support across the primary age range, working both alongside the class teacher and with pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis. You'll play an important part in creating a positive learning environment, helping pupils engage with their lessons, and supporting those with additional needs to make progress.
Responsibilities- Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities
- Offer 1:1 and small-group support, including SEND pupils
- Adapt resources and activities to match individual pupil needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence and social skills
- Help with literacy and numeracy across the curriculum
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers
- Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe classroom
- Previous school-based Teaching Assistant experience is essential
- Minimum of 6 months in an education setting required
- Experience with primary-aged children
- SEND or 1:1 support experience especially beneficial
- Confident supporting individuals, groups, and whole-class tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, proactive and positive approach
- Strong ability to build relationships with pupils and staff
- Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- References covering the last 24 months required
- Based in West Bromwich
- Full-time hours:
Monday to Friday during school hours - Contract role, with all pay rates via PAYE or Umbrella
