We're offering a Level 3 Safety, Health and Environment Technician Apprenticeship, based at our Oldbury Site in Gloucestershire, where you'll gain nationally recognised qualifications, hands‑on site experience, and expert support — all while earning a salary.

What is the Apprenticeship?

This Government‑approved Level 3 apprenticeship provides practical and technical training in health, safety and environmental management within a highly regulated nuclear environment. The programme includes:

  • 15 to 18‑month apprenticeship based at Oldbury Site
  • A mix of day release and remote learning and support from your course provider RHG (Reach Hire Grow)
  • On‑the‑job training with your site safety team
  • Mentorship from experienced safety professionals

You will work alongside the site safety team assisting in all aspects of health, safety and environmental management — gaining experience you simply can't get in a purely college-based environment.

Monday to Thursday, 07:25 – 17:00 (37 hours/week) (20‑minute unpaid lunch)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in reviewing and updating safety documentation and procedures
  • Support the development and communication of company safety campaigns
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies
  • Follow and promote risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of site health and safety standards
  • Gain exposure to both specialist decommissioning and conventional site operations
Key Responsibilities (continued)
  • ✅ Assist in monitoring and maintaining safe working practices across site
  • ✅ Support the review and updating of health, safety and environmental documentation and procedures
  • ✅ Help carry out workplace inspections, audits and safety tours
  • ✅ Assist in incident investigations and the reporting of findings
  • ✅ Contribute to risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • ✅ Support the development and communication of safety campaigns and initiatives
  • ✅ Promote a strong safety culture by engaging with employees and contractors
  • ✅ Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and standards
  • ✅ Contribute to continuous improvement activities to enhance site safety performance
Entry Requirements & What We're Looking For

We're looking for motivated individuals who are ready to learn and grow in a challenging but rewarding environment.

You must
  • Be aged 18 or over by 3 August 2026
  • Have 5 GCSEs (grades 9–3 / A*–D), ideally including Maths and Science
  • OR have completed a Level 2 Apprenticeship
You should also have

  • ✅ A proactive approach
  • ✅ Commitment to safety and high standards
  • ✅ Good organisational and communication skills
