Our client is a privately owned, award‑winning environmental contractor and consultancy with over 25 years of proven experience in providing specialist advice and undertaking quality site investigations and remediation projects. Operating across the UK with regional offices in the South East and the Midlands, the company delivers services including remediation, site investigation and risk assessment to petrochemical companies, retailers, government departments and land and property owners.
OpportunityDue to company expansion, the client is recruiting permanently for an Environmental Technician. The role is site‑based and involves assisting with environmental investigations, remediation works, sampling, monitoring and compliance activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and in line with UK environmental regulations. The Technician will support site managers, engineers and remediation specialists through all stages of remediation projects, from initial site investigation to validation and site closure.
Responsibilities- Assisting with contaminated land investigations and remediation activities on‑site.
- Collecting soil, groundwater, surface water and gas samples in accordance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Supporting the installation and monitoring of groundwater wells, gas monitoring points and remediation systems.
- Conducting environmental monitoring, including groundwater level readings, gas monitoring and field testing.
- Maintaining accurate site records, sampling logs and health & safety documentation.
- Assisting with remediation techniques such as soil treatment, excavation supervision, pump‑and‑treat systems, bioremediation or vapour extraction systems.
- Ensuring compliance with UK environmental legislation, health & safety standards and company procedures.
- Operating and maintaining environmental monitoring equipment and field instruments.
- Supporting waste classification, materials management and disposal processes.
- Liaising with subcontractors, laboratory providers and site personnel as required.
Entry‑level candidates should hold a degree in a related discipline (civil engineering, environmental science or geology) and have a good understanding of contaminated land and remediation principles, competence in data recording and report preparation, a full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel between sites throughout the UK.
