Our client is a small but growing UK manufacturer in the metals industry, supplying some of the most demanding industries in the world — defence, telecoms, marine and general engineering.

This role sits at the centre of an exciting period of growth, with a genuine opportunity to play a key role in a growing business rather than just fit into an existing one.

• £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience

This is a rare, full-spectrum technical estimating role. You won't just be putting together quotes — you'll own the whole journey from enquiry through to order and delivery:

• Reviewing customer enquiries and technical specifications, working out material, process and testing requirements
• Estimating and costing jobs, sourcing material from suppliers where needed
• Preparing and issuing quotations, negotiating where required and processing orders through to delivery
• Building close working relationships with the production team to make sure what's quoted can be made, on time and to spec
• Acting as a key point of contact for customers — this is customer service and technical support as much as it is estimating

• Come from a manufacturing or engineering background — ideally from a smaller, subcontract or precision engineering environment where you've had to wear more than one hat (estimating, technical, customer-facing)
• Comfortable interpreting technical drawings, specifications and customer requirements
• Methodical and precise: small errors here can have real consequences once something reaches the shop floor
• Confident communicating with both customers and internal production teams
• Happy to be based on-site, with occasional customer visits (mileage paid)
