About the roleWe are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and experienced Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) to join our clinical team in Sandwell. The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the issues affecting people with substance misuse and alcohol complexities. They will be driven by safe practice, compassion and a desire to help people be more healthy and well.
This position requires a qualified nurse or advanced clinical practitioner with appropriate and valid registration with either the NMC or GPHC and relevant experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing high‑quality prescribing services to people with complex needs, including substance misuse.
- Implementing a strong harm‑reduction approach and maintaining a caring, compassionate, and safe ethos for service users.
- Applying knowledge of general health issues, safeguarding, and clinical guidelines for drug and alcohol users.
- Using recovery principles in addictions, ITEP, and NICE guidance on detoxification and stabilisation protocols.
- Ensuring that care delivered is evidence‑based and specific to service user needs.
- Carrying out prescribing work flexibly, incorporating on‑site clinics as well as outreach and satellite locations across Sandwell.
- Adjusting approach to deliver alternative treatment options/projects to meet service needs and to build an ethos of meeting people where they are.
- Demonstrating effective communication with colleagues, service users, and external teams across the borough; travelling around the borough easily as required.
- Promoting equality of opportunity and treatment, maintaining a non‑judgemental and inclusive attitude towards colleagues and service users.
