Your role as an IT Resourcing & Capacity Manager
The part you'll play in transforming infrastructure services.
The Resourcing & Capacity Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing resource planning, allocation, utilisation and forecasting activities across the SPMO portfolio - Group IT/Technology.
Reporting to the Head of Portfolio & PMO , the role ensures appropriate resources are identified, allocated and tracked across programmes, projects and change initiatives. The Resource Manager maintains visibility of resource demand, capacity, utilisation and constraints, supporting informed decision-making and delivery planning across the portfolio.
The role also provides line management and development support to Resourcing & Capacity Analysts , ensuring high-quality resource data, reporting, forecasting and stakeholder engagement.

Your responsibilities as a [people management level]:
Lead, mentor and develop Resource Analysts.
Set objectives and manage performance against agreed targets.
Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, coaching sessions and development reviews.
Allocate workload and ensure priorities are effectively managed.
Review the quality and accuracy of resource reporting, analysis and forecasts.
Support capability development and succession planning.
Foster a collaborative, customer-focused and high-performing team culture.
Ensure consistent application of resource management processes and standards.
Support recruitment and onboarding activities where required.
From time to time, we may ask you to take on other duties appropriate to the role and level. We expect all work to follow policies, procedures and relevant standards.
How you'll support your division
Resource Planning & Allocation Manage resource allocation activities across programmes, projects and portfolio initiatives.
Coordinate resource requests and match available capacity against delivery demand.
Maintain an accurate view of resource availability, utilisation and allocation.
Support Programme Managers and Project Managers in securing appropriate resources for delivery activities.
Identify and escalate resource conflicts, over allocations and capacity constraints.
Ensure resource assignments are documented, approved and tracked appropriately.
Resource Demand & Capacity Management Support the assessment of resource demand associated with incoming and approved initiatives.
Maintain resource demand and capacity plans across the change portfolio.
Monitor future demand requirements and identify emerging resource risks.
Support capacity planning activities and highlight potential delivery impacts.
Work closely with Demand Management and Portfolio teams to understand future resource needs.
Assist with scenario planning and prioritisation discussions where resources are constrained.
Resource Forecasting & Reporting Produce regular resource reports, dashboards and management information.
Maintain accurate forecasting information covering utilisation, availability and future requirements.
Monitor resource trends and provide insight into capacity pressures and skills shortages.
Provide reporting to governance forums and leadership teams.
Ensure resource data quality and consistency across portfolio tools and systems.
Support portfolio planning cycles with resource insight and analysis.
Workforce & Capability Support Support identification of capability gaps across programmes and projects.
Work with delivery managers to understand future skills requirements.
Provide information to support recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities.
