We are currently recruiting for a School Caretaker to join a school in Wednesbury. This is a varied, hands‑on role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and secure school environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carrying out regular checks of fire exits and ensuring access routes remain clear
- Flushing water outlets in line with site procedures
- Litter picking and maintaining the cleanliness of the school grounds
- Reading and recording utility meters
- Locking up the school premises
Carrying out general site and building checks - Reporting any maintenance issues, defects or health and safety concerns
- Helping to ensure the school site is safe, secure and well maintained
- Assisting with general caretaking duties as required
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Practical and hands‑on
- Able to work independently and use their own initiative
- Comfortable carrying out routine checks and general maintenance tasks
- Friendly and professional when dealing with staff, pupils and visitors
- Able to follow health and safety procedures
- Previous caretaking, facilities or maintenance experience is desirable, but candidates with relevant practical experience will also be considered.
Due to the nature of the role and working within a school environment, a prior Enhanced DBS will be required.
