This role will focus on leading the home through improvement and strengthening quality standards following a recent Ofsted rating of "Requires Improvement." The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, regulatory knowledge and a child-centred mindset to support the team and create a stable, high-performing service. The home currently operates at 50% occupancy, providing the opportunity to shape the service, strengthen the team and build a positive culture focused on outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the operational turnaround and improvement plan for the children's home
- Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children's Homes Quality Standards
- Provide strong leadership and direction to the residential care team
- Embed trauma-informed and therapeutic care practices including PACE
- Ensure the home provides a safe, stable and nurturing environment for children
- Drive quality improvement and prepare the home for the next Ofsted inspection
- Oversee staffing, recruitment, rotas and staff development
- Build strong relationships with local authorities, professionals and families
- Promote a culture of safeguarding, accountability and continuous improvement
We are looking for a confident and resilient Children's Residential Manager with experience improving or stabilising children's homes.
You will have:
- Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Turnaround Manager in children's residential care
- Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and Children's Homes Standards
- Experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma or complex needs
- Demonstrable success improving services or Ofsted outcomes
- Excellent leadership and team development skills
- Strong safeguarding knowledge
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
