We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 development post within the Sandwell Sexual Health services. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to undergo training and development to become a Band 6 senior Contraception and Sexual Health Nurse.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic passionate nurse who wants to develop professionally to work within a motivated team of professionals and deliver education, sexual health advice and management.
We are a multi-professional progressive team providing a comprehensive, evidence based and patient focused service for Contraception and Genitourinary Medicine specialising in integrated sexual health and HIV services. They will be working at the main hub at the Lyng Centre and our outreach services across Sandwell.
The post holder will work alongside consultants and senior specialist nurses to gain appropriate training and skills in order to provide clinical care for presenting groups of patients including history taking, clinical assessment and examination, safeguarding, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care.
The post holders must be motivated to provide all aspects of sexual health and contraception to vulnerable and hard to reach groups who would otherwise not engage in Sexual health services
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care based on consultation, assessment and individual needs
- Undertake some higher-level clinical duties under the direction/supervision of a senior nurse/practitioner
- Collect specimens as directed by senior clinical nurse or doctor, ensuring its safe storage/transport or disposal as appropriate. Ensure appropriate labelling and recording of specimens and request forms.
- Collect blood samples (peripheral or venous) ensuring its safe storage, transport or disposal, as appropriate.
- Manage a defined group of patients/clients, participating in all aspects of care from initial contact through to discharge, including transferring from one environment to another if applicable
- To undertake administration of prescribed medication
