We are seeking an experienced Food Safety Compliance Manager to lead food safety, quality, and compliance across our site(s). This is a senior, hands‑on role responsible for driving high standards in food safety, legality, and quality, while leading and developing Technical, QA, and Hygiene teams.
You will play a key role in maintaining and continually improving the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with BRC, HACCP, and all relevant UK and EU food legislation, and acting as the main point of contact for external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities- Drive site compliance with food safety (HACCP), quality (BRC), hygiene, and legal standards
- Ensure ongoing compliance with customer, regulatory, and certification requirements
- Lead, manage, and develop the Technical, QA, and Hygiene teams
- Promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the business
- Maintain, review, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Plan and manage internal audits and BRC audits
- Act as the primary point of contact for external bodies, including EHO and certification bodies
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and conduct supplier audits
- Manage product specifications and support commercial teams with customer requirements
- Oversee new product launches, including artwork approval
- Ensure product specifications and labelling meet food safety, quality, and legal standards
- Drive site KPIs, reduce complaints, and improve processes and performance
- Lead investigations into non‑conformances and implement effective corrective actions
- Communicate key risks, non‑conformances, and performance updates to senior management
- Support informed decision‑making through accurate reporting and analysis
- Degree or HND in Food Science or a related scientific discipline
- HACCP Level 3 or 4 (essential)
- Level 4 Food Safety Management (essential)
- Extensive proven experience in a technical or quality management role within food manufacturing or FMCG
- Strong leadership, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills
- Sound understanding of UK and EU food law and retailer standards
- Highly organised and detail‑focused
- Self‑motivated and resilient
- Able to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment
