Our client is looking for a Young Women’s Empowerment Advocate to join their “Be You” service, providing specialist early intervention support to girls and young women aged 11-19 across Sandwell.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based one-to-one interventions and group sessions for girls and young women aged 11-19.
Build trusting relationships with young women, creating safe and inclusive spaces where they feel heard and supported.
Deliver the Be You programme covering topics including self-identity, healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing, resilience, coping strategies, exploitation awareness and future planning.
Support young women experiencing challenges including trauma, adverse childhood experiences, exploitation, mental health concerns, substance misuse vulnerabilities, challenging behaviours and involvement with the criminal justice system.
Complete assessments, risk assessments, support plans and outcome measures.
Provide advocacy, emotional support and practical guidance to empower young women to make informed choices.
Work collaboratively with schools, Children’s Services, Youth Justice Services, police, health services and voluntary sector partners.
Make referrals and support access to specialist services, including mental health, exploitation, domestic abuse and wellbeing support.
Contribute to the delivery of the Bloom group programme, supporting emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, resilience and personal safety.
Maintain accurate case records, reports and monitoring information in line with GDPR and organisational requirements.
Essential Criteria
Minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, preferably working with children and young people.
Experience supporting children and young people and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
Experience managing a caseload and maintaining accurate case records.
Experience delivering one-to-one interventions and engaging young people through relationship-based practice.
Experience using risk assessments and intervention tools to identify and manage risk.
Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and the impact of violence, abuse and exploitation on children and young people.
Understanding of safeguarding legislation, child development and good practice requirements.
A compassionate, non-judgemental and empowering approach.
