The Art Gallery and Permanent Collection Curator will organize and install exhibitions in the Harry and Virginia Murray Art Gallery, assist with exhibitions in the Welcome Center Art Gallery, establish gallery procedures, engage campus and community partners, market gallery events, review and catalog potential art donations, and oversee the maintenance and documentation of items in the SCC Permanent Collection.
This is a part-time hourly position, anticipated to work 5 to 6 hours per week. This position does NOT qualify for SCC benefits. The pay rate for the position is $20 per hour.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Exhibitions (Harry and Virginia Murray Art Gallery)
· Organize at least five exhibitions annually, including contacting and coordinating with exhibiting artists.
· Install exhibitions and ensure proper presentation within the gallery space.
· Attend meetings related to gallery strategy and operations.
· Participate in the development of forms and processes to support gallery operations.
· Acquire and request necessary materials to support exhibitions. Partnerships and Collaboration
· Collaborate with campus and community partners to support one-time and ongoing art
initiatives.
· Work with the SCC Foundation to develop procedures for art-related donations. Permanent Collection
· Attend meetings related to Permanent Collection strategy and operations.
· Catalog and maintain donated works in the Permanent Collection.
· Acquire and request necessary materials for collection care and maintenance.
· Perform or arrange for routine maintenance and care of the Permanent Collection.
· Monitor Art Gallery budget. SCC Expectations
· Learn and apply SCC policies and procedures.
· Be familiar with the mission of a community college.
· Work as a contributing member of a team with minimal supervision.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
