Responsibilities- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
- Research test/client information and confirm all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or service directories.
- Accurately complete all data entry requirements, including patient registration and test order entry from requisition.
- Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
- Process specimens (labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing) as required by test order.
- Maintain accurate data in iLabs for assigned accounts daily to support billing.
- Provide necessary CIR and PPE resolution reporting to the Director on schedule.
- Perform clerical duties such as inventory, stock supplies, and answering phones as needed.
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures; ensure staff follow instructions.
- Verify patient demographics, initials, and signature post-venipuncture to confirm correct labeling.
- Assist with compiling and submitting monthly statistics and data.
- Maintain phlebotomy logs (e.g., temperature logs) in a timely manner per required frequency.
- Complete training courses and stay current with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
- Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off‑site or outside normal shift.
- Participate in special projects and teams.
- Stay up‑to‑date on company communications.
- Provide quality, error‑free work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Work independently with minimal on‑site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on‑call, and overtime.
- Commit to MAKO policies and procedures, including dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and MAKO Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
- Have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if applicable.
- Demonstrate superior customer focus and the ability to communicate openly with peers, supervisors, and patients; embrace change and understand MAKO’s business.
- Lift light to moderately heavy objects (1–15 lbs frequently; 16–25 lbs occasionally; 26–40 lbs seldom; >41 lbs requires assistance).
- Sit or stand for long periods; maintain eye and hand coordination over long hours.
- Perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently throughout the day.
- Travel as required by the position.
- Extensive use of phone and PC.
- Fine dexterity and steadiness of hands.
- Bend, kneel, push, pull, reach, twist as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience.
