Summary:
Ohio CAT Heavy Equipment Service Technicians troubleshoot and repair general heavy equipment drive-train components, and electrical and hydraulic systems as well as safely perform normal machine repair. Responsibilities of this position include inspecting, repairing, maintaining, overhauling, and rebuilding engines and/or heavy equipment components.

Summary:
Ohio CAT Heavy Equipment Service Technicians troubleshoot and repair general heavy equipment drive-train components, and electrical and hydraulic systems as well as safely perform normal machine repair. Responsibilities of this position include inspecting, repairing, maintaining, overhauling, and rebuilding engines and/or heavy equipment components.
Hours: 7am-3:30pm
Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Utilizes company and Caterpillar service information systems, procedures, and publications, such as ET, SIS, NPR, specifications, manuals, parts books, and assembly/disassembly procedures.
  • Performs maintenance activities on new and rebuilt/repaired engines and/or equipment, including cleaning, repairing, reconditioning, overhauling, and rebuilding.
  • Cleans mechanical parts and components.
  • Completes service reports accurately.
  • Determines reusability of parts by published manufacturer reusability guidelines.
  • Reads, understands, and applies complex wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics.
  • Initiates parts salvage requests.
  • Completes work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills And Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have one of the following:
    • Successfully completed the level 3 training program.
    • Three years of experience with hands-on mechanical repair work with diesel, earthmoving, or industrial equipment.
    • Graduation from an accredited technical school (minimum two-year program), with emphasis on diesel engine or earthmoving repair and two years of experience
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude required.
  • Basic computer skills necessary, including Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to work with a team or individually.


Physical Requirements
Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling. Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines. Dexterity Normal. Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
