Material Handler at Welch Packaging
Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $22.00/hr
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.

- Operate clamp truck and forklift equipment according to company standards.
- Receive stock and other raw materials by company procedures.
- Unload and load trucks as necessary.
- Operate Conveyor Line as needed.
- Assist Shipping Personnel and keep the warehouse organized.
- Work safely and report unsafe conditions or near misses to your Supervisor.
- Report any property damage that occurs while on the lift.
- Maintain a clean work area; keep docks, aisles clean and swept; empty trash as required.
- Keep all equipment lines full; machines should not wait on product.
- Read and understand the production schedule; keep Supervisor informed in advance of issues.
- Work efficiently, handling bales only once and minimize forklift damage.
- Operate and maintain forklift equipment as required.
- Perform forklift inspections daily at the beginning of your shift (OSHA).
- Communicate all relevant information to the oncoming shift prior to leaving.
- Follow all LOTO procedures for loading and unloading trailers.
- Process, tag, and store incoming raw materials as required.
- Inspect all incoming and outgoing product and supplies for defects.
- Inventory and organize finished products.
- Complete documentation as assigned (e.g., load verification form).
- Shred waste materials and properly weigh/identify loads.
- Operate plant PCs and systems to complete tasks.
- Enter Maintenance Work Requests for safety, scheduled and unscheduled tasks as needed.
- Rework bales or pallets of finished goods that have been spilled or are potentially unsafe.
- Work with other forklift drivers as a team and communicate effectively.
- Follow plant procedures for tracking waste bales; place quarantined product in quarantine area.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. The work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility with machinery and equipment. The following may apply: lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly, standing 8-10 hours, bending, standing, squatting, and twisting. The environment may be loud and require hearing protection; exposure to fumes or airborne particles;
occasional wet or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; fast-paced operations. English reading/writing/communication is required for safety and operational instructions.
