Annual Salary: $60,000 – $95,000

Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history.
- Collect and record nursing assessment and interventions.
- Review and report the results of the health status assessment, physical examination, laboratory data, radiographic data and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider.
- Provide teaching and other instructional material to patients and families.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct dosage, route, time and technique.
- Assure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitate dose modifications by assessing patient labs, consulting protocols and physicians, and calculating dose.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all patient care and treatments provided.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Restock the supply area as needed and maintain a safe work environment.
- Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any materials potentially infected with a blood‑borne pathogen.
- Maintain all disinfection protocols and equipment according to quality‑control standards.
- Facilitate clinical operations, manage medication refill requests, assist physicians with exams and procedures, triage patient calls, and coordinate patient/family communication.
- Assist patients in locating community resources.
- Collaborate with clinical research teams and act as a resource for LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
- Serve as a mentor/preceptor, providing day‑to‑day guidance to less experienced nurses.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain current oncology nursing knowledge.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
- Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois, current registration with State Board of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ongoing continuing education required.
- 3–5 years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology (preferred); oncology certification preferred.
- Full range of body motion, ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, and proficient dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods.
- Current vision and hearing within normal range.
Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and typical oncology/hematology clinic conditions.
Physical demands include handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and periodic lifting of up to 40 lbs.
