The Logistics Planner is a highly visible transportation role responsible for overseeing and optimizing planning for nationwide customers and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction while working closely with other departments to facilitate timely deliveries.
This position will require overtime as needed. Overtime is scheduled based on individual job responsibilities and the department’s needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Freight planning and routing of customer orders
- Dealing with logistical service issues through communication with carriers
- Working with various departments on specific customer requests
- Data entry, including invoice entry, customer information, service failures, and new rates
- Notification and scheduling of customer pick‑up orders
- Working with carriers to develop more efficient means of transportation
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the transportation field with a preference in planning
- Understanding of transportation regulations and requirements, freight pricing, and industry knowledge & terminology
- Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Knowledge and experience in systems such as Lean Logistics, TMS, WMS, ERP (e.g., QAD)
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and negotiation skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in daily work and projects
- Organized with exceptional time‑management skills
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent listening skills and ability to handle multiple requests while documenting activity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Jel Sert Company is committed to pay transparency and will provide further compensation information during the interview process. The minimum compensation for the Logistics Planner is $21.25 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined upon an offer and is based on experience, education, and skills. Eligible employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package.
