Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a construction and contractor organization in West Columbia, South Carolina on a Contract basis. This position is best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced office setting and can manage a large volume of invoice activity with accuracy and consistency. The role supports daily payable operations, helps keep vendor payments on schedule, and contributes to improving overall workflow efficiency within the department.

Responsibilities:

- Review, enter, and process a high volume of vendor invoices each day while maintaining accuracy and meeting turnaround expectations.

- Verify that invoices have the proper approvals and follow up as needed to keep payment activity moving on time.

- Use accounting and industry-related software to record payable transactions and support day-to-day invoice management.

- Help reduce outstanding payable items by organizing work efficiently and addressing aging invoices in a timely manner.

- Maintain clear and accurate records of invoice details, coding, and supporting documentation for internal tracking.

- Work closely with supervisors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies, missing information, or payment-related questions.

- Support routine accounts payable activities in a fully office-based environment during standard business hours. Requirements - Prior experience in an accounts payable position is required.

- Demonstrated ability to process invoices in a high-volume environment with strong attention to detail.

- Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Excel is essential for success in this role.

- Comfortable performing data entry and invoice coding with a high degree of accuracy.

- Experience with account reconciliation, check runs, and general payable procedures is preferred.

- Familiarity with accounting systems such as Oracle, Quick Books, SAP, or similar platforms is beneficial.

- Ability to stay organized, manage repetitive tasks effectively, and maintain focus in a busy office setting.
