Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaptation of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
- Plans curriculum, lessons, and special ED programs and teaching methods.
- Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observation.
- Monitors student progress in and outside the special ED room.
- Maintains the physical environment of the classroom.
- Maintains contact with parents of students.
- Determines goals, objectives, and directives based on student progress.
- Prepares report cards, educational records, IEPC forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
Supervises students.

- Bachelor's degree in education.
- Teaching certificate with Intellectual Disabilities or Multicategorical special education endorsement.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
- Plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and student needs.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.
- Communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral form.
Frequently walking and standing; bending or twisting at the neck and back; peripheral and close vision required to read written material. May lift up to and exceeding 25 lbs, including students, wheelchairs, and equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENTModerate to loud noise level. Interacts frequently with the public and other staff. Directly responsible for safety, well-being, and work output of students.
