Middle Level ELA Teacher – 190 Days

Lexington School District Two – Fulmer Middle School

Position Title: Middle Level Teacher

Department: Instruction –
Reports To: Principal

Summary: Instructs students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. Supports students to become mature, responsible individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Teach District-approved curriculum.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
  • Prepare for assigned classes.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, considering location constraints and student needs.
  • Guide learning toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and communicating them to students.
  • Assist school administration in implementing student life policies; develop classroom behavior rules and maintain order fairly.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare progress reports as required.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain classroom behavior standards.
  • Diagnose learning disabilities and seek assistance from district specialists.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records per law, district policy, and regulations.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional day.
Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in related field.
  • Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate in appropriate subject area(s).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
  • Writing skill: reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals.
  • Effective presentation and communication abilities with managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Mathematical competency: fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions for practical situations.
  • Reasoning: solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret instructions in various forms.
  • Apply current research and theory to instructional programs; plan and implement lessons aligned with objectives and student needs.
  • Establish effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; strong oral and written communication skills.
Physical Demands

Employee must stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit frequently; lift up to 25–50 lbs.; maintain safety, interact with students and staff. Vision: close vision to read printed material.

Work Environment

Moderate to loud noise level; duties performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.
