Supplier Quality Engineer

We’re looking to add a Supplier Quality Engineer located in Columbia, SC. The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for supplier development in a manufacturing or service process; works with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans.
Typical Day / Responsibilities- Supplier selection – select suitable suppliers based on quality, capability, pricing, delivery, environment, society regulation, etc. against customer requirements.
- Supplier qualification – implement new supplier qualification through capability matching, supplier risk assessment, self‑assessment, onsite audit, qualification database management.
- VEA – understand customer drawings, specifications, feedback value‑added engineering proposals to optimize supplier manufacturing process or products.
- Material (Component) qualification – implement PPAP (FAI) including FAI, material certificates, quality/process control plan, FMEA, MSA, process parameter sheet, RoHS compliance, reliability test, COC, etc.
- Pilot run tracking – track new qualified parts quality performance to ensure meeting customer quality requirements in pilot run phase; drive supplier corrective action during pilot runs and transition to mass production.
- Hot issue solution & troubleshooting – SME to help on supplier quality hot issues and troubleshooting.
- Maintenance audit – help on the annual maintenance audit for existing suppliers with SQE.
- Continuous improvement program – help suppliers use quality tools to improve manufacturing process and product quality.
- ECO/ECN/SCR implementation – handle ECO/ECN/SCR from customer, follow up status if PPAP/FAI required before production.
- Supply‑chain process knowledge – understand manufacturing process, applications, and process development to improve quality components.
- Product quality audits – audit suppliers to assure products meet ISO and regulatory standards.
- Relationship building – collaborate with purchasing engineer and supplier system to maintain strong relationships.
- Cross‑functional support – select, approve, and develop suppliers to meet customer and business needs.
- Vendor guideline compliance – ensure selection, development, approval and rejection according to vendor guidelines.
- Process control assessment – drive full assessment for effectiveness of supplier process control plans, measures and activities.
- Statistical techniques – use statistical techniques and professional judgment to research data for process improvement.
- Process validation – develop and guide execution of process validations and tests; document results.
- Process capability studies – guide supplier process capability studies.
- Design of Experiments – construct DOE to characterize supplier processes and identify root causes.
- Procedure development – develop and implement procedures for new or improved supplier processes.
- Engineering support to receiving – provide statistical research and inspection procedures support.
- Material Review Board – participate in MRP resolutions on supplier provided parts and services.
- Quality System Improvement – participate in supplier quality system improvement plans.
- Supplier RRC – guide supplier requests for change process.
- System audits – perform supplier quality system audits.
- Corrective & preventive actions – perform C&PA with suppliers.
- Non‑conformance analysis – research non‑conformances and supplier performance for KPIs.
- Dock‑to‑stock monitoring – perform dock‑to‑stock monitoring and part selection activities.
- Project guidance – provide guidance to project teams for supplied component and supplier qualifications.
- Risk & hazard identification – guide teams in identifying risks and hazards for new product designs, processes, suppliers and applications.
