Job Summary

The Paralegal provides professional legal support service as directed by the SVP General Counsel and/or his/her designee and performs a variety of legal‑related and administrative support tasks, including without limitation conducting legal research, drafting legal and business communications, preparing draft agreements and legal documents, facilitating the review and revision of business documents and maintaining electronic and hard copy filing systems. The Paralegal also provides administrative support, with focus on document management, filing and corporate record keeping.

The person in this role is also responsible for coordinating meetings, managing schedules, interfacing with clients as directed, and performing special projects as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:

    High School Diploma or GED;
    Some post‑high school education, such as courses in business practices and typing.
  • Minimum Years of

    Experience:

    5 years of experience in a law firm, in‑house legal department, or other office environment where the majority of the work was legal in focus.

  • Required Certifications/Licensure:
    None.
  • Required Training:
    Skills in computer applications and ability to operate legal database management programs;
    Familiarity with Microsoft Office;
    Thorough knowledge of English grammar and spelling;
    Knowledge of standard office practices and equipment;
    Ability to type 70 words per minute;
    Familiarity with civil rules of procedure and court scheduling practices;
    Ability to answer phones, schedule appointments and manage customer requests;
    Ability to take written minutes of meetings and prepare written summaries of events;
    Ability to self‑regulate, learn from prior experiences and anticipate the needs of the assigned attorney(s).
Essential Functions
  • Organize documents and coordinate document productions. Conduct the date‑stamping, redaction, duplication and indexing of documents. Set up and maintain files which are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter. Work with SVP General Counsel and/or his/her designee on electronic productions. Under the guidance of a SVP General Counsel and/or his/her designee, categorize documents by subject matter, prepare a chronology of facts and create production charts.
  • Conduct various document searches and factual research. Create and maintain internal databases, run searches on internal and external document databases and systems, cull relevant information from a variety of resources such as newspapers, magazines, libraries, case documentsලා and trade associations. Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, and documents.
  • Investigate facts and law of cases to determine causes of action and to prepare cases.
  • Prepare witness and matter materials for case preparation. Organize interview memos, digests and other relevant documents for legal counsel review and case preparation.
