Position: Director of Tax & Accounting
Location: Columbia or Lexington, South Carolina (initially remote) Hybrid eventually
Salary: $200K base (commensurate with experience)
Schedule: 9:00am – 5:30pm, hybrid; increased hours during peak seasons
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Tax & Accounting to lead our tax and accounting functions. This senior leadership role oversees compliance, reporting, and strategic planning, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with regulations. The Director will play a key role in optimizing tax positions, guiding financial strategy, and supporting organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of tax planning, compliance, reporting, and research.
- Manage preparation and review of corporate, partnership, fiduciary, multistate, and individual tax matters.
- Identify tax and regulatory risks and develop strategies to optimize outcomes and minimize liabilities.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams on complex projects and initiatives.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
- Mentor and supervise team members, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development.
- Implement and optimize tax and accounting software systems.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in tax and accounting leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of current tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with corporate structures and/or real estate preferred.
- Proficient in Ultra Tax CS, Checkpoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and Intuit products (Preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.

This position operates on US East Coast schedule (EST) to facilitate collaboration with the team. We are looking for a strategic, hands-on leader ready to drive the tax and accounting function and develop a high-performing team.
