Field Service Technician (Energy) at Blanchard Machinery

EPG Field Service Technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, overhaul, and maintenance of customer and company engines and power generation equipment and components.

• Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of engine and electrical related system transfer switches, and switch gear.
• Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Diagnose problems and causes of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
• Determine re‑usability of parts per Caterpillar re‑usability guidelines.
• Order replacement parts; ensure correct and complete orders at time of procurement.
• Clean, repair, recondition and maintain equipment and components.
• Test, measure and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
• Prepare, inspect and operate machines prior to delivery.
• Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
• Prepare inspection and appraisal reports.
• Prepare accurate and complete service reports timely.
• Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance.
• Work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.
• Prepare parts requisitions, time cards, part returns, and other necessary reports and forms.
• Maintain the service truck and equipment carried on the service truck.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Preference given to candidates with five years electrical power generation/electronics experience, including at least three years on CAT diesel and natural gas engines and/or comparable equipment up to 480 V.
• Preference for candidates familiar with CAT diagnostics software (SIS) or comparable systems.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and detail orientation with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
• Ability to work in the field without supervision.
• Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced service environment.
• Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.

• Primarily outside, in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
• Require personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
• Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, and lifting.
• Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Must endure prolonged forward and overhead arm positions while performing mechanical operations.
• Must be able to lift varied weight.
• Seeing, reading, and writing are required.
• Use of computer and other technology to complete job responsibilities.
