Overview

The Field Service Mining Technician repairs, overhauls, and maintains diesel engines and related equipment used in mining haul truck applications. The role requires willingness to travel and to perform duties unsupervised at customers’ locations.

Job Duties
  • Performs accurate failure analysis and troubleshooting using sophisticated electronic diagnostic tools.
  • Discusses findings with customers, proposing solutions that optimize satisfaction while maximizing sales opportunities.
  • Creates job repair plans based on diagnoses, including required repair operations and anticipated repair hours.
  • Determines parts requirements, including qualifying experienced parts for reuse and researching new parts using company and supplier catalogs.
  • Performs authorized repairs at an acceptable quality level and labor recovery rate commensurate with company guidelines for a Journeyman Technician.
  • Travels to customer locations to perform repairs when necessary.
  • Maintains own tool inventory and complies with company Technician Tool policies.
  • Develops accurate records of repairs and parts used to assist warranty claims and customer invoices, tagging removed parts consistent with AFA procedures.
  • Responds promptly to after‑hour call‑out service as requested by management.
  • Attends training programs and learns on‑the‑job to gain the proficiencies necessary to advance to the next Technician level.
  • Leads small groups of technicians when requested by management.
  • Follows all safety and EPA regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
Work Experience and Qualifications
  • One‑year certificate from college or technical school and two to four years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and diesel engines.
  • Computer and software skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
