Key Responsibilities and Metrics
- System design and equipment selection for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems
- Calculation and Drawing Review
- All calculations, drawings, and specifications are accurate, compliant with local codes and industry standards, and free of errors.
- Analyze and verify engineering calculations thoroughly.
- Review and approve technical drawings and specifications with attention to detail.
- Ensure compliance with local codes and industry standards.
- Collaborate with team members for accuracy and improvements.
- Equipment Selection and Design
- Equipment is selected and designed to meet project requirements effectively and efficiently.
- Evaluate project specifications and requirements.
- Research and select appropriate equipment and materials.
- Design equipment to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers for the best solutions.
- Construction Administration
- Smooth execution of construction process with minimal disruptions and adherence to design specifications.
- Supervise construction activities and ensure alignment with plans.
- Address and resolve on-site issues promptly.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with construction teams.
- Coordinate resources and team members efficiently.
- Plan and schedule project timelines effectively.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed. Communicate clearly with clients and team members.
- Conduct cost estimation and prepare budget reports.
- Train Engineering Technicians in the design process.
- Develop company design standards and procedures.
- Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, and details.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements and best practices in MEP engineering to continuously improve system efficiency and sustainability.
- Attend appropriate training sessions offered through professional organizations (ASHRAE, IES, etc.).
- Participate in professional organization meetings and events (ASHRAE, IES, etc.).
- Maintain professional licensure.
- Enhance leadership skills to lead projects and teams.
- BSc degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
- Minimum 4-5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
