Paramedic PRN – Mercy One

Provides professional care for acutely ill and injured patients, incorporating the education and skills learned as a certified paramedic for all age groups in ground ambulance pre‑hospital and hospital environments. Care is guided by Mercy One Ambulance protocols or direct medical control.

Part time

• Assess patients with a variety of medical conditions or injuries.
• Prepare patient care reports within 24 hours of completing the ambulance trip.
• Triage, prioritize, and anticipate patients’ needs; develop a plan of care.
• Provide ongoing evaluation, altering the plan of care as indicated; document findings and interventions.
• Implement interventions consistent with protocols, documenting response to treatment.

• High school diploma preferred or high school equivalency.
• Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Iowa required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing body:
  American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing body:
  American Heart Association.
• Proof of completion of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training required within three (3) months of hire.
• Valid driver’s license; meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; at least 18 years of age; eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
• Emergency Vehicle Operations training within six (6) months of hire.
