District Store Director;
Store Manager;
Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations and eCommerce. Position report to:
All positions except those listed above or designated by the Store Director.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive attitude, create a friendly and fun atmosphere through teamwork.
  • Encourage employees to greet and speak to customers; provide prompt, courteous service.
  • Exhibit caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Smile and greet customers, including learning their names when possible.
  • Assist customers with:
    • Escorting them to product locations
    • Securing out‑of‑reach items
    • Loading or unloading heavy items
    • Recording and passing along customer suggestions or requests
    • Performing tasks that enhance the shopping experience
  • Answer telephone calls promptly, providing friendly service.
  • Act as a leader and role model, maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Plan, prepare, and adjust work schedules; assign employees to duties and follow up.
  • Supervise and coordinate employee activities across all store areas during Department Manager absences; perform necessary work at all job levels.
  • Understand and apply pricing and merchandising guidelines.
  • Ensure proper customer service throughout the store and resolve specific customer issues.
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions such as promotion, transfer, or dismissal.
  • Train and enforce safety procedures, fill out accident reports, and assign light duty when needed.
  • Compile, store, retrieve, and understand managerial data (sales, inventory reports, etc.).
  • Order merchandise, verify delivery, ensure quality, compare records, and report discrepancies.
  • Train workers in store policies, procedures, and job duties.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, law, security, sales, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Determine location of ad and promotional displays, ensuring product quality and quantities meet demand and profitability.
  • Consult with employees to solve problems affecting performance.
  • Explain store services to potential personal and business account customers to generate additional business.
  • Understand the basics of store accounting.
  • Adhere to departmental and company guidelines on hygiene and dress.
  • Adhere to company policies and store guidelines.
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time.
Secondary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Determine employee motivational needs and provide an appropriate environment.
  • Stay current with market trends and information (competition, new products, equipment, merchandising).
  • Provide continuous education on new and updated company policies and procedures.
  • Sell merchandise to employees and customers or issue merchandise on requisition.
  • Handle cash registers.
  • Recommend cost‑reduction programs.
  • Review personnel records for accuracy and completeness; understand payroll basics.
  • Recommend additions, deletions, and shelf allocation of merchandise.
  • Assist in other store areas as needed.
  • Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Worker Characteristics
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to interview for basic information and guide people, following technical manuals.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of similar or related work experience preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports)
  • Instruct, assign work, review work, plan work of others, maintain standards, allocate personnel, and coordinate activities.
