At Landon School, we are seeking a passionate, proactive, and highly skilled Specialist/Advanced Occupational Therapist (Band 6/7 equivalent) with a keen interest in SI or expertise in the same to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team of SaLT's, OT and therapy assistants. While this role includes managing a designated caseload and leading and developing the OT service front, our service model heavily prioritises a consultative, whole-school approach.

You will lead on developing a robust universal and targeted provision across the school, empowering class-based teams to integrate therapeutic strategies seamlessly into the daily curriculum, while providing vital clinical leadership to the OT department.

• Line Management & Mentorship:
  Manage, support, and provide high-quality clinical supervision to OT team.

• Service Oversight:
  Lead the operational delivery and clinical governance of the OT service, facilitating professional development, peer reviews, and managing resource allocation to maximise the team's impact.

• Develop & Implement Universal Strategy:
  Design and embed a robust, school-wide universal and targeted sensory framework that supports emotional regulation and environmental adaptation across all classrooms.

• Upskill & Train Staff:
  Lead high-quality training, coaching, and disruptive workshops for teaching teams, helping them proactively identify sensory needs and confidently differentiate between sensory-seeking/avoiding behaviours and behavioural presentations.

  Work side-by-side with class-based staff to co-produce, model, and audit embedded sensory diets, sensory circuits, environmental modifications, and motor skill development plans that can be sustained within daily school routines.

• Caseload Management:
  Manage a specialised caseload of children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties, utilising a tiered model of intervention.

• High-Level Clinical Assessment:
  Deliver evidence-based, complex Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration assessments and interventions to inform holistic student profiles, environment adaptations, and life-skills support.

• EHCP Reporting & Advice:
  Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) through clear, functional, and outcomes-focused clinical reporting, translating professional advice into practical classroom strategies going beyond isolated individual clinical hours.

• Multidisciplinary Leadership:
  Collaborate closely with speech and language therapists, leadership team, and families to promote consistency across home, and school.

• Maximise Staffing Ratios:
  Effectively guiding and communicating with class teams to maximise the therapeutic impact of daily interactions.

• Essential Requirements

• Post graduate or undergraduate Degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.

• Significant experience working as a Band 6 equivalent OT with children/young people with autism, severe learning difficulties, and complex neurodevelopmental needs.

• Proven experience in the supervision, line management, or clinical mentorship of junior staff or therapy assistants.

• Track record of upskilling education staff, delivering whole-school training, or implementing consultative/universal OT service models.

• Deep understanding of differentiating sensory needs from behavioural needs in complex populations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing high-quality advice/reports for EHCPs and annual reviews.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
