About The Role
Prepares and finishes metal surfaces of trailers in preparation for painting process.
Responsibilities- Follows surface preparation specifications on trailers and accessories.
- Follows supervisor/assistant supervisor’s instructions.
- Ensure components are free of rust, carbon, mill scale and weld spatter prior to the painting process. May be required to use buffers and chippers etc. to clean hard to reach areas.
- Wash parts and trailers in Wash Bay.
- Remove excess water from parts and trailers following washing process.
- Operate overhead crane in a safe manner.
- Is familiar with all equipment used and is responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep.
- Monitors supplies needed in area and updates supervisor as necessary.
- Carefully prepare trailers for blasting or painting, by masking off key components on the trailer that are not to be blasted or painted.
- Handle, store and dispose of all hazardous materials properly. Successfully completes all annual training.
- Follow standard work and procedures.
- Must adhere to all safety standards set by the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to accurately read a measuring tape, follow and read instructions..

Physical demandsWhile performing duties of job, employee is required to stand; walk; sit; climb; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
At times, must use ladders to work at heights of up to 12 feet.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust, fumes and is near moving machinery.
