College of Education, Nursing & Health Professions (ENHP) at the University of Hartford is seeking a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Special Education to begin in August 2026.
Applicants will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Special Education (face‑to‑face and online synchronous/asynchronous formats), advise and mentor students, conduct research, and provide service to the department, college, and university.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Special Education and possible interdisciplinary courses.
- Maintain an active scholarly agenda with peer‑reviewed publications and presentations.
- Provide academic advising, student recruitment and retention, committee service, and accreditation work.
- Demonstrate commitment to inclusive excellence and belonging.
- Earned doctorate in special education or a related field at the time of appointment (doctoral candidates completing their dissertation by August will be considered).
- School‑based teaching or equivalent applied experience.
- Evidence of scholarly specialization in special education.
- Special Education teacher certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable, detail‑oriented, and highly organized.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Involvement in school/community partnerships.
- Experience in academic advising and mentoring of students.
- Record of university‑level teaching in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and asynchronous online formats.
- Familiarity with online platforms (e.g., learning management systems).
- Evidence of service to the field.
- Familiarity with CAEP/CEC standards and accreditation.
- Commitment to inclusive excellence and belonging.
