Early Learning Center Teacher Assistant Infant/Toddler part time 12:30‑5:30
We are looking for a dedicated Teacher Assistant to work with the Head Teacher in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for our children at YWCA Hartford Region Early Learning Centers. The role includes curriculum support, classroom management, compliance reporting, and communication with families.
Responsibilities- Assist in planning and delivering classroom and outdoor curriculum that meets children’s physical, emotional, and intellectual needs.
- Develop short and long‑term goals for class programs and implement individual Support Plans.
- Support student activities through direct participation.
- Maintain an orderly, safe, and inviting learning environment.
- Manage classroom behavior with positive guidance, following YWCA Hartford Region’s Positive Guidance Policies.
- Perform support duties such as snack preparation, clean‑up, and bathroom monitoring.
- Communicate effectively with parents in a sensitive and responsive manner.
- Assume daily classroom responsibilities in the absence of the Head Teacher.
- Follow OEC and YWCA protocols for suspected child abuse and neglect reporting.
- Help complete developmental observations and assessments.
- Report incidents and complete Incident Reports within 24 hours.
- Use the Name‑to‑Face Accountability and Ratio sheets to ensure proper accountability and safety.
- Comply with CACFP procedures and documentation.
- Maintain student confidentiality as per YWCA policies.
- Document work‑related injuries to the Site Manager immediately.
- Attend Sanctuary Training and other job‑related trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated ability to develop age‑appropriate exhibits and activities.
- Basic knowledge of principles of Child Development.
- At least 18 years of age.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or to be obtained within two months of employment.
- This is a part‑time position with standard hours 12:30 pm – 5:30 pm; schedule may be defined by the department head or supervisor.
