Medical Assistant – $3500 Sign‑On Bonus – Corbin’s Corner, CT

Location: East Hartford, CT
Hours: Mon – Fri, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: $21.25 – $25.00 per hour

The Medical Assistant assists with patient examination and treatment under the direction of an urgent care provider.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage check‑in and registration; interview patients and record vital signs.
- Draw and collect blood samples; prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Prepare treatment rooms; maintain supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate provider referrals; answer patient questions; inform technical staff of patient flow.
- Conduct point‑of‑care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
- Process co‑pays and schedule appointments.
- Handle phone calls, mail, and reception duties; conduct follow‑up courtesy calls.
- Perform opening/closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building.
- Maintain quality assurance logs and submit repair tickets as needed.
Education:
- High School Diploma required.
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred.
Work Experience:
- Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Front Desk experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire (ARC or AHA).
Certifications:
- For under one year of experience: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA.
- Alternative: 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or urgent care, or 1+ years of phlebotomy experience.
- Other acceptable at hire:
Accredited nursing graduate (LPN/RN), EMT, CNA, or CPOE certification within 2 weeks.
Required Skills:
- Basic Medical Assistant duties performed accurately.
- Typing speed and basic computer proficiency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Detail oriented with strong judgment and teamwork.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication.
- Respectful and sensitive to cultural/social differences.
