Overview
Residential Aide - Beverly role at Continuum of Care
Location:
Beverly, CT (as applicable in the original listing)
- Establish rapport and positive working relationships with clients while maintaining professional ethics and boundaries.
- Enhance a client’s independent living skills by engaging, assessing, and providing various modalities of teaching and assistance (e.g., modeling, prompting, hands-on assistance).
- Provide hands-on support and guidance for activities of daily living such as personal care/hygiene, housekeeping, laundry, food management/nutrition, budgeting, health and safety, leisure, and other activities which promote healthy living.
- Lead or co-facilitate psycho educational groups as indicated and engage clients in community integration and social recreation activities.
- Provide transportation to and from appointments as identified; educate and train clients with travel planning and use of public and private transportation.
- Conduct regular apartment/room inspections and assist clients in maintaining the cleanliness of their living spaces (hands-on assistance when needed).
- Conduct ongoing rounds checks to ensure safety of individuals and the program.
- Administer breathalyzer tests and urinalysis samples, as applicable.
- Document shift logs in electronic records according to contract and agency policy.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with providers, families, and natural supports.
- Respond to crisis situations with appropriate interventions as outlined in agency policy for Nonviolent Practices.
- Supervise, monitor, and document the self-administration of client medications.
- Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings, clinical rounds, All Treater meetings, and supervision.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; at least one year of experience in a related healthcare field. Licensed CNA or other related healthcare certification accepted in lieu of experience.
- Prior experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and/or addiction.
- Knowledge of the community support system and resources is preferred.
- Valid Connecticut Driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- CPR/First Aid certification offered as part of orientation; employee responsible to maintain ongoing certification.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.
- Scattered site and non-24 hr. program positions require reliable transportation and willingness to transport clients in personal vehicles.
- Ability to work on a shift that may include weekends; weekend shift differential may apply as described in the job posting.
