Phlebotomist I – Quest Diagnostics

West Hartford, CT |

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 7:15 AM – 4:15 PM with rotational weekends | Pay: $19.49 – $21.55 per hour (annual bonus may be available).

Phlebotomist I positions involve collecting specimens, administering tests, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with lab policies. The role requires proficiency in patient interaction, data entry, specimen handling, and inventory management.

• Collect specimens according to established procedures—including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions following established training.
• Research test/client information and verify all written and electronic orders using laboratory technology systems and approved tools.
• Navigate computers and accurately enter data.
• Obtain identification and input billing information; collect payments when required, adhering to corporate policies.
• Process specimens: label, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze, and prepare for transport as dictated by test orders.
• Perform non‑patient facing duties: inventory, stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and handling email.
• Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, including maintenance and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in‑person training courses promptly.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Medical training – medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
• Effective communication in English.
