Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist processes payroll and is expected to proficiently demonstrate payroll processing ability in all US related payrolls.

  • Process incoming payrolls (20+ payrolls weekly), including timecard breakdown following all applicable Federal, State, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Provide quality service in assisting and servicing clients regarding payroll production, tax‑related issues, and problem‑solving in compliance with company policy and procedure.
  • Proficient knowledge and utilization of payroll database system; familiar with programs: invoice, batch, timecard editor, and reports: timecard verification, fringe, payroll history, cast list, gross wages.
  • Maintain accurate and acceptable files on each client/show, following company policy and procedure.
  • Maintain the client relationship related to the weekly processing of the client's payroll, responding to questions and resolving payroll issues.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as assigned.
  • Obtain and review employee timecards for multiple clients at a time.
  • Calculate multi‑state overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with the assistance of an HRIS.
  • Review timecards and payroll previews to look for discrepancies and inconsistencies.
  • Manage the payroll process for each client and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Address and respond to issues and questions regarding payroll.
  • Run quarterly and year‑end payroll reports as requested, for each client.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to reliably commute and report to the Tri Star office.
  • Four‑year college degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Experience using ADP.
  • Experience processing payroll for several entities or businesses at a time.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of all pay periods (weekly, bi‑weekly semi‑monthly, etc.).
  • A minimum of 5‑7 years’ experience in processing high‑volume payroll required. Entertainment payroll industry experience and/or multi‑state union payroll is highly preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to process multiple payrolls at a time.
  • Multi‑level relationship building skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication ability.
  • Ability to work towards the team and individual goals.
  • Knowledge in using an analytical approach to breaking payroll.
  • Must exhibit a sense of urgency concerning client servicing.
  • Flexibility to shift priorities as needed to service the team’s clients.
  • Understanding of and commitment to maintaining current knowledge of industry trends, concepts, products, practices, and financial arrangement.
  • Must have the ability to break payroll and learn advanced concepts when ready.
  • Self‑motivated, must be able to work independently, goal‑oriented and people oriented.
  • Schedule must be flexible to accommodate workload and client needs.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
