MUST HAVE BIKE PATROL EXPERIENCE - NO EXCEPTIONS!

The West Hollywood Parking Enforcement office is looking for a qualified individual to patrol assigned areas primarily on bicycle to enforce parking regulations/restrictions as a Parking Enforcement Officer II, Bike Officer. Previous bike patrol experience is required. The WEHO Parking Enforcement Office is a 24/7 operation, and therefore schedules may change based on the needs of the operation.

Responsibilities
  • Issues written and computer-generated parking citations while patrolling the City primarily on bicycle, in a variety of weather conditions, but also on foot and by vehicle.
  • Communicate with the public to explain parking regulations.
  • Perform traffic control duties during special events, traffic light outages, and other situations deemed necessary by the City.
  • Other duties as needed by the City.
Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 months of work experience in a related field and/or customer service.
  • Ability to learn, comprehend, and retain knowledge of policies and guidelines related to the California Vehicle Code and West Hollywood Municipal Code.
  • Must be computer literate to enter data accurately into handheld device.
  • Candidate must be able to bike and walk for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions and be able to enter and exit out of a vehicle frequently.
  • Familiar with bicycle safety on the road during the day and at night.
  • Good sense of direction. Experience operating a company vehicle and/or bicycle, a plus.
  • Must be able to report to work on-time for assigned shifts.
  • Flexibility in schedule to work holidays if scheduled and for mandatory special events.
Additional Desired Experience and Skills
  • Traffic control experience
  • Knowledge of radio calls (10-codes and NATO alphabet)
  • Familiarity with City of West Hollywood streets and boundaries.
  • Experience using an e-bicycle.
  • MUST possess Valid Driver's License
Physical Demands
  • Ability to constantly stand, walk and move about on foot for sustained periods of time (throughout entire shift).
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects of at least 30 pounds in weight.
  • Ability to work in the elements- heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
  • Ability to apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Ability to ride an electric bicycle.
  • Ability to perform functions that require repetitive motions using hands, wrists and arms.
  • Ability to express or exchange information, instructions, ideas, etc. by means of the spoken word.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations sound.
