The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.
Responsibilities- Replenishes floor stock medications on nursing units accurately, fills floor stock requests accurately and maintains appropriate documentation
- Identifies medications no longer in use in the Operating Room, returns medications to pharmacy, and appropriately manages such medications
- Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations
- Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date
- Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately; files documentation in appropriate locations
- Completes and documents monthly inspections of all assigned medication storage areas in a timely and comprehensive manner
- High School Diploma or Equivalent; college courses desirable
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate required
- New York State License required
- Basic computer skills
- 2-3 years pharmacy experience preferred, but not required
USD $31.00 - $39.00 /hr.
