Responsibilities- Utilizes crisis and/or de‑escalation intervention practices, when necessary and appropriate, with clients whose behavior cannot be otherwise supported without such interventions.
- Assists in the application and removal of restraints when deemed necessary by appropriate personnel and ensures the physical and emotional health and safety of the patient when using such methods.
- Identifies patient characteristics and environmental variables that may trigger agitated behavior(s) and communicates such information to the interdisciplinary team.
- Performs observation and monitoring of assigned patients on a one‑to‑one basis. Documents observations on forms and/or computerized patient record as per policy.
- Performs patient checks/rounds as required, and reports observations, interactions and patient activity to assigned nursing staff. Documents observations on forms and/or computerized patient record as per policy.
- Communicates clinical matters to assigned RN or other professional staff as required.
- Accurately performs/records procedures (full vital signs, weight).
- Accurately performs EKGs.
- Safely assists with ADL’s, with psychiatric emergencies/RRTs.
- Interacts therapeutically/respectfully with all patients, their family members and staff.
- Promotes positive working relationships with peers and others.
- High School or equivalent diploma.
- Experience working with the mentally ill population preferred.
- Previous hospital experience a plus.
- BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only one organization:
American Heart Association. No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
USD $25.62 – $32.32 /hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate; actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range does not include any bonuses, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and does not include the value of benefits.
