Summary

The Materials Pricing Analyst is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate SAP Material Master data and developing strategic pricing models for finished goods distribution. This role supports product management, procurement, and other teams by ensuring data consistency, cost efficiency, and profitability across multiple sales channels. The analyst oversees material creation, supplier pricing updates, and market analysis to support company objectives and sales team effectiveness.

Responsibilities
  • Material Master and Item Management:
    • Review and enter new item creation requests in SAP ensuring consistency across platforms and alignment with company standards.
    • Maintain and update material master data including supplier information, product descriptions, and shipping codes.
    • Support product lifecycle actions such as discontinuations, marketing content updates, and promotional materials.
  • Pricing Setup and Analysis:
    • Establish and update pricing for new and existing materials based on input from product management and market trends.
    • Manage and maintain pricing models and databases; enhance pricing methodologies using data-driven approaches.
    • Analyze material cost trends, commodity fluctuations, and supplier pricing behavior to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving strategies.
    • Prepare pricing forecasts, cost-impact analyses, and budget models for leadership and business partners.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with purchasing, supply chain, product management, and finance to resolve discrepancies, support negotiations, and align cost and margin strategy.
    • Support RFQs with modelling, benchmarking, and cost evaluations.
    • Communicate supplier price updates and corresponding customer price and margin impact.
    • Enter and validate discount and promotional requests from sales and product teams.
  • Data Analytics and Market Intelligence:
    • Translate large, complex datasets into insights driving sourcing, pricing, and strategy recommendations.
    • Monitor commodity markets, economic indicators, and global supply dynamics to anticipate cost movements.
    • Identify pricing optimization through quantitative analysis, benchmarking, and scenario modelling.
    • Create dashboards, visualizations, and reporting tools to communicate pricing trends and performance indicators.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Develop and refine processes for data quality, price accuracy, and system alignment.
    • Prepare presentations and reports synthesizing pricing trends, market activity, and cost drivers.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in finance or equivalent experience in supply chain management, business, data analytics or related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in pricing analysis, materials management, or procurement (preferably in distribution).
  • Strong proficiency in SAP and other ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Oracle, Net Suite).
  • Exceptional Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of commodity markets, cost modeling, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs. of material, finger dexterity for activities such as data entry and calculator use, grasping, repetitive motions, speaking, hearing, visual acuity, and mobility between locations. Use of both hands is required.
