Data Center Field Technician Lead (Rack & Stack)
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a dedicated technical specialist to help build and operate the suite at significant scale, coordinating cloud services in a multi‑tenant environment. The role requires hands‑on hardware expertise and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities- Hardware installation & configuration of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.
- Hardware break/fix replacement of FRUs.
- Rack installation: placing racks, cabling, power‑ups, and handoff of servers to provisioning teams.
- Troubleshooting and resolving telco connectivity issues.
- Replace network switch equipment.
- Communicate within a ticketing environment and report to Oracle Cloud service owners.
- Document activities and develop/edit SOPs.
- Perform structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshoot fiber/copper/telecom cables.
- Install, fix, and repair system power supplies and cabling.
- Execute small projects independently and collaborate with manager on larger local projects.
- Perform performance trend analysis and manage server/network capacity.
- React to potential problems using automation, scheduling, and monitoring tools.
- Participate in configuration and implement technical solutions to enhance and troubleshoot the system.
- Maintain support documentation.
- Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware.
- Strong interest in learning new data‑center concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Shift schedule: 4 days a week, 10‑hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an IT environment.
- Experience troubleshooting servers, networking devices, and IT equipment.
- Inventory management experience: ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts.
- Experience on‑call shifts and responding to critical events as needed.
- Ability to raise issues to senior onsite staff and management.
- Knowledge of RAID, SAN, SCIS, Linux/Unix, GRUB.
- Knowledge of trunk infrastructure is a plus.
US: Hiring Range USD $27.07 – $54.13 per hour (approximately $56,300 – $112,600 annually). Eligible for equity.
