Job Summary

The Quality Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Walker Tape Co.’s Quality and Safety Management Systems from the ground up. This role focuses on product quality management, ISO 9001 system development, safety compliance, and the cultivation of a proactive, accountable workplace culture.

This position calls for a hands‑on, high‑energy professional who takes initiative, leads by example, and drives momentum in achieving quality and safety objectives. The ideal candidate is a self‑driven problem solver who can build, train, and sustain systems that promote continuous improvement and regulatory compliance across all departments.

Although this is an individual contributor position, it carries significant cross‑functional influence and visibility within the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and sustain the facility’s quality management system in alignment with ISO 9001 standards, with the goal of achieving certification within 12–24 months of hire.
  • Lead and manage the CAPA process: root cause investigations, corrective plans, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Oversee supplier quality initiatives, including supplier audits and performance monitoring.
  • Investigate and manage customer complaints related to product quality, coordinating corrective actions and communication.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety compliance programs, ensuring OSHA standards are met or exceeded.
  • Design and deliver employee training programs for quality and safety across production, warehouse, shipping, maintenance, and office teams.
  • Promote a culture of quality ownership, safety awareness, and continuous improvement.
  • Define, track, and report on key quality and safety metrics, using data to identify trends and drive action.
  • Collaborate closely with all departments to integrate quality and safety requirements into daily operations.
  • Prepare for and lead external certification audits (ISO, safety) and maintain ongoing audit readiness.
  • Ensure all documentation and procedures meet internal and external compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in quality and safety roles within small to medium‑sized manufacturing businesses.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing ISO 9001 quality management systems from scratch.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing safety compliance systems.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge of CAPA, supplier quality, and customer complaint investigations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and root‑cause investigation skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with quality/safety software systems.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Safety, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working in adhesive, tape converting, or related manufacturing environments.
