Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Kitchen Manager to join our culinary team at Mama Bird Souther Kitchen in West Jordan, UT. This is a full-time exempt position. We are Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, our menu highlights traditional Southern flavors with a fresh, modern twist. The Assistant Kitchen Manager will play a key role in maintaining food quality, consistency, and kitchen efficiency while fostering a positive, team-oriented environment.

Pay Rate:

$48,000 - $52,000 annual salary (based on experience)

Eligible for management bonus plan

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Chef
  • Assists in overseeing kitchen operations during service to ensure timely, high-quality food preparation for all meal periods.
  • Lead by example in maintaining kitchen standards, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation, plating, and safety procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering and receiving, and minimize waste through proper portioning and storage practices.
  • Ensure all food is prepared according to restaurant specifications and food safety standards.
  • Support a collaborative kitchen culture by mentoring line cooks and prep staff.
  • Promote communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of kitchen experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or sous chef role.
  • Strong knowledge of Southern cuisine and comfort food classics.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment serving multiple dayparts.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Serv Safe or equivalent food safety certification preferred.
  • Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
