Cashier – Smith’s Food & Drug Centers, Salt Lake City, Utah.
We are looking for part‑time cashiers who are friendly, accurate, and dedicated to providing an outstanding customer experience. You will be responsible for greeting, assisting, and processing transactions while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming store environment. Prior experience in retail or customer service and basic math skills are required.

- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction)
- Customer service experience
- Prior experience as a bagger or courtesy clerk
- Visible greeting and assistance to customers in the cash lane
- Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system
- Handle all tender types (cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP, EBT, WIC, etc.) and adhere to company policies
- Maintain cash handling limits and control loss
- Apply guidelines for restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs)
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with seasonal and special promotions
- Comply with food safety regulations and safety programs
- Perform preventive equipment maintenance and report issues
- Create a welcoming environment and answer product questions
- Follow all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high‑pace, stressful environment
- Manage conflict constructively and honestly
- Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
