Operations Management
Ready to lead a major engineering project from concept through to delivery while working a 9-day fortnight (Week 1 - Mon-Fri; Week 2 - Mon-Thur). Opportunities to manage genuinely complex, long-term engineering projects are rare. Opportunities to do it on a full-time basis across a 9-day fortnight are even rarer. This is your chance to take ownership of a significant design-and-build project focused on the retrieval and processing of waste at Hunterston
B. You'll join at the early concept stage and play a leading role in shaping the project from initial characterisation and design through procurement, installation and final delivery. If you enjoy solving complex challenges, influencing stakeholders and seeing projects through from start to finish, this is the kind of role that can define a career.
You'll lead the delivery of a major engineering project in one of the UK's most highly regulated environments. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you'll bring together engineers, technical specialists, suppliers and stakeholders to move a strategically important project from concept into reality. This is not a project monitoring role or a project controls position - it's a genuine end-to-end Project Manager opportunity with responsibility for direction, decision-making and delivery.
- Lead major engineering and infrastructure projects from concept design through to delivery.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, specialist resources, suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Manage project scope, cost, schedule, risk and governance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and to the required quality standards.
You're an established Project Manager with experience delivering engineering, construction, infrastructure, process, manufacturing or other highly regulated projects. You've worked in complex stakeholder environments, understand what good project governance looks like and have successfully led multidisciplinary teams to deliver challenging outcomes. Most importantly, you've taken projects through significant stages of the lifecycle and understand what it takes to keep delivery moving when complexity increases.
You'll be comfortable operating in a visible, site-based role where stakeholder engagement is critical. Experience with in the nuclear sector would be highly advantageous, although candidates from comparable regulated industries such as chemical processing, process engineering, energy or major industrial projects will also be considered. Design-and-build experience, contract management knowledge and the confidence to work alongside technical experts will help you stand out.
- Proven Project Management experience delivering engineering, construction or process-based projects.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- A recognised Project Management qualification (or willingness to achieve APM PMQ).
- Degree-level qualification, HNC/HND or equivalent experience in a relevant technical discipline.
This is an opportunity to join a project at the beginning of its journey and influence its success for years to come. With a four-day working week, a major long-term programme and the chance to deliver a project from concept through to completion, this offers a combination of challenge, responsibility and work-life balance that is increasingly difficult to find.
