Job Position | Assistant Professor Ecological Economics and Sustainability The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana

The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, is seeking applicants for an assistant professor of ecological economics and sustainability. This is a tenure-track, academic-year appointment with research, extension, and teaching responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized research and extension program in ecological or natural resource economics with a focus on sustainable forest ecosystems and associated environmental/ecosystem services. Expected teaching responsibilities include an upper division undergraduate course in natural resource economics and an alternate year graduate course in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Purdue University’s Department of Forestry and Natural Resources is a broad environmental department, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches across a spectrum of research areas including ecology, forest biology, wildlife, fisheries and aquatic sciences, wood science, genetics and human dimensions of natural resource management (http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). ). The department hosts the Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, state, and non-governmental groups.

Interaction with faculty in the Department of Agricultural Economics, the Center for the Environment, Purdue Water Community and Purdue Climate Change Research Center is ongoing and encouraged. As the land grant university in the state of Indiana, Purdue University has integrated programs in discovery, learning and engagement (extension). The College of Agriculture embodies this land-grant mission by providing exceptional graduate and undergraduate education, stretching the frontiers of science through innovative research, and providing solutions to societal challenges that help people improve their lives and livelihoods.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Ph.D. in ecological, environmental or natural resource economics, agricultural economics, or a closely related discipline. Undergraduate or graduate training in the field of natural resources is desired, but not mandatory. Extension and/or teaching experience; the potential to develop a vigorous, extramurally funded research program; and a commitment to extension, research, and teaching are required. A strong publication record and post-doctoral or professional experience are desirable.

SALARY:
Salary will be commensurate with experience and training.
