Job Description:
The Test Technician supports the Electronics Lab by performing skilled testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electronic systems and equipment. This role involves hands‑on work with PCB assemblies, wiring harnesses, real‑time simulators, and lab instrumentation while partnering closely with Controls Engineers to support product development, validation, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of PCB assemblies, including surface‑mount and through‑hole components
- Conduct product verification and validation testing in support of engineering and program requirements
- Diagnose electrical issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, repair manuals, and part catalogs
- Inspect and test electronic equipment and components to identify and correct malfunctions
- Perform scheduled lab equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure proper operation
- Build and modify wiring harnesses and test fixtures as required
- Operate and maintain real‑time simulators and electronic lab equipment
- Assist Controls Engineers with developing, managing, and executing technical projects
- Identify and implement improvements to test lab processes, fixtures, and workflows
- Support a safe, inclusive work environment that values diversity and collaboration
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience with PCB assembly, modification, and repair (surface‑mount and through‑hole)
- Experience with IPC Electronics Manufacturing Acceptability Standards
- Knowledge of ESD protection practices
- Experience with asset and facilities management
- Familiarity with cable and harness fabrication
- Experience with problem‑solving techniques and root cause analysis
- High School Diploma or GED OR
- Associate Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience OR
- Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and hands‑on experience
- Knowledge of electronic test instruments and tools
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring guides
