Front Desk Attendant (Part Time) – Ascent Hospitality

As a Front Desk Attendant, you will play a crucial role in delivering outstanding service, fostering a welcoming environment, and supporting the operational efficiency of our hotels.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional dress and conduct at all times.
  • Greet guests immediately with a friendly, sincere welcome and maintain eye contact.
  • Follow brand standards including loyalty program practices.
  • Provide information about the hotel, available rooms, rates, and amenities.
  • Employ operational and selling techniques to maximize occupancy and achieve the highest average rate.
  • Promptly complete the registration process, input and retrieve information from the computer, confirm pertinent details, and select rooms based on guest needs.
  • Inform customers about payment methods and verify IDs and payment methods match.
  • Verify credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods; handle cash, make change, balance cash bank, and process payments per established procedures.
  • Maintain cash bank per policy guidelines and comply with all accounting procedures.
  • Stay aware of issues relating to hotel operations and communicate them to management.
  • Ensure all rooms are ready for check‑in and departures are completed by check‑out time.
  • Confirm group reservations and arrange personalized experiences for guests.
  • Maintain knowledge of standards and company policies.
  • Understand how travel planning websites operate (e.g., Booking, Trip Advisor).
  • Adhere to safety, security, and emergency procedures and react appropriately in emergencies.
  • Operate front office telephone and computer systems and answer the telephone using a positive, pleasant tone.
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely, professional manner and keep management informed.
  • Work flexible hours and shifts as required.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Preferred six (6) months related experience in hotels or customer service training.
  • Previous experience as a hotel Front Desk Agent preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English; ability to communicate with guests and team members of other departments.
  • Familiarity with a computer and typing using a keyboard.
  • Familiarity with office equipment such as copier, printer, facsimile machine, and telephone.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions given.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and without constant supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills and teamwork ability.
Physical Demands
  • Stand for long periods; use arms, hands, and legs repetitively; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Walk, climb, balance, talk, and hear regularly.
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Use close, distance, and color vision effectively.
  • Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
