At Abide Hospice, We Begin With Who Is Here.

When Ordinary Care Becomes Sacred:

Bathing a frail elder may seem like an ordinary clinical task.

But something changes when you slow down. When you ask permission before touching. When you protect modesty, notice the person's eyes, and allow them to remain present in what is happening to their body.

The task becomes sacred.

At Abide, we believe that making something sacred means bringing extraordinary attention to what is ordinary. We sacrifice our hurry, our convenience, and sometimes our certainty—not the person before us.
This is how we care.

About You
  • You are someone who notices.
  • You notice when a pillow isn't quite right, when a patient seems quieter than usual, or when silence is more comforting than words.
  • You understand that dignity is protected in small moments, that a gentle touch can communicate what words cannot, and that sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is simply remain.
  • You bring clinical skill, patience, and genuine respect for the person before you.
  • You don't simply care for someone. You recognize someone.
What You'll Do

As a part‑time Hospice CNA, you'll provide personal care and comfort to patients throughout the Portland area.

  • Provide bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal care with dignity.
  • Assist with mobility, positioning, and transfers safely and respectfully.
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to the RN Case Manager.
  • Build trusting relationships with patients, families, and care community staff.
  • Respect patient choices, privacy, and independence.
  • Collaborate with our hospice team and document care accurately.
  • Bring a calm, reassuring presence to vulnerable moments.
What We're Looking For
  • Current Oregon CNA certification.
  • Hospice, home health, or elder care experience preferred.
  • Compassionate communication and strong observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Dependable transportation.
  • A commitment to our relationship-first approach to care.
  • Above all, you understand that the person matters more than the task.
What You'll Find at Abide
  • A flexible, part‑time schedule.
  • A supportive, relationship-centered hospice team.
  • Leadership that values your voice and experience.
  • Training in our distinctive approach to hospice care.
  • A culture where clinical excellence and human connection belong together.
An Invitation

If you believe that a bath can be more than a bath, that folding a blanket can be an act of grace, and that protecting someone's dignity is among the most meaningful things we can do, we'd love to meet you.

Because hospice isn't simply care for how someone is dying. It's care for how they are still living.

Abide Hospice Care

Hospice care for the life that is still being lived.
